| 1947 Cadillac
The post war era automobiles turned a corner and took on a new
look, more indicative of today's' automobiles. Cadillac was
a leader in this new adventure. The 1947 became a more streamlined
automobile integrating the fenders more into the main body.
I found this view to be quite interesting because it accentuates
the chrome, and wheel dressing but epitomizes the look of the
late 40's and early 50's. Fender skirts, wide white wall tires
and full size hubcaps were typical elements of that era. This
original automobile art painting is opaque water color (gouache).
Most of my work is super realistic. This automobile
fine art entry is a bit of a departure. It is done with realism
in mind but in a poster style. The method is more of solid colors
with very little blending. It is an interesting, and simplified
approach. It is an opaque watercolor (gouache) painting. The
use of gouache enables the artist to take several different
avenues in painting technique. It can be used as the typical
wash type watercolor approach, or it can be used as an opaque
medium, perhaps more like acrylic or oil in nature. This is
a natural for a solid color approach. I like to think that each
painting is different and becomes a study. Each painting is
a new experiment. I am constantly learning. This makes painting
a joy and not laborious.
The 1947 Cadillac has elegant lines, which set
the tone for model years to come. Wide whitewall tires, fender
skirts, and chrome, are all part of the grandeur of that era.
"Classic in Black" is the title and
theme. There is nothing more stunning than a high luster, chrome
endowed, black automobile. Black is the only color that allows
pure color to be reflected. I chose this view to present the
automobile in its best light.
