1957 Corvette
The Corvette is America's premier, exotic, sports car and has
the longest history of any American entry. It has grown to be
one of the most technologically advanced automobiles in the world.
This watercolor (gouache) painting portrays the Corvette in its
infancy as a sports car for fun, the sand and the beach. My thoughts
were to capture those special moments in time. It is one of my
favorite automobiles.
The 1957 Corvette becomes a serious performance
car, however, with its' fuel injection and the 283 cubic inch
V-8 engine which produced one horsepower per cubic inch. The
early C model Corvette, in my opinion, is still the image benchmark
and I thoroughly enjoyed painting it. This is a recent addition
to my series of automobile art. Red is my favorite automobile
color and my memories of the early Corvettes are red, red, and
red. This is my memory of perhaps the most beautiful of all
C models. |
