341 Dual Cowl Phaeton
The mid 1920's thru the early 30's were transition
years. Style was a new word in the automotive vocabulary
as the automobile became a statement of personality.
This scene portrays the elegance that is Cadillac.
The 20's and 30's were still infant years for
the automobile although important milestones were taking place.
Namely, the quality of roads began to improve, automobiles began
to take on their own personalities, automobiles became more
creature comfortable, and the list goes on. This automobile
fine art painting depicts the grandeur of the cars of the late
20's, specifically Cadillac. This 1928 Cadillac Phaeton model
361 epitomized the exterior components such as chrome headlights,
radiator, a classic hood ornament, chrome horn, chrome everything.
This type of elegance became the norm for the next 35 or so
years. The automobiles of today have set aside those characteristics
in favor of composite materials, and monochromatic color schemes.
The elegance that was the automobile of yesterday now adorns
rugged trucks. Have we come full circle yet? I guess I have
an obsession with chrome. When I see chrome, I want to polish
it. I miss the character of chrome as an accent to a high luster
automobile. I guess I just have a hard time letting go.
